Cut in managable lengths outside the attic, or roll it out in the attic.

 

Loosly lay barrier  directly on the attic floor, overlap seams, taping seams is not required. Do not block soffits. Product can be crinkled or creased to minimize contact with insulation effectively  providing an air gap for most of the surface.

 

Roof truss installation - staple to bottom of roof truss

May be slightly more efficient in summer, slightly less efficient in winter

requires more material due to larger surface of sloping roof as well as needing to to the gable ends

higher installation effort due to more cutting, fitting and stapling in restricted space of lower roof truss.

usually install strips lengthwise, starting at the bottom. Staple to roof truss. Cut and wrap around truss supports.

Leave about 6 inches along roof peak without any barrier for ventilation of hot air to leave roof vents.Do not block roof vents. Do not block soffits - gap may be required at bottom

Loosly drape radiant barrier over top of trusses before roof sheathing is installed, it should sag a couple inches. Leave about 6 inches  along roof peak without any barrier for ventilation of hot air to leave roof vents.
