Why Radiant?

Radiant Floor Heating is a process of heating under or in the floor  creating a large radiating surface which heats objects, and humans which in turns heats the air. Radiant in floor heat acts in a similar way to sunlight. Heat from the warm floor surface is radiated outward through air at the speed of light. In fact a warm surface is emitting energy in all directions but we cannot see it.

Canadian Radiant Design specializes in Hydronic Radiant floor heating which circulates hot fluid under or in the floor by flexible pex pipe.

Radiant heating can be used in virtually all new construction as well as existing homes if you have access to the joist space or sub floor. While the best location is floors, radiant can also be used in walls and ceilings. Radiant is great for homes, garages or shops greenhouses and snow melting driveways and sidewalks.

While very common in parts of Europe and Asia, as the benefits of Radiant are becoming more known Radiant is becoming very popular in North America. If you are building or renovating now is the time to install a super comfortable and efficient radiant floor system.

Radiant in floor heat provides the ultimate in comfort. With temperatures most comfortable at floor to head level and actually lower at ceiling height. (Convection can have air temperatures of 90degrees at ceiling and 60 degrees at floor level). No Annoying drafts circulating dust or allergens.

Super energy efficient radiant has many efficiency advantages Compared to Convection Heating. Convection creates a layer of very hot air at ceiling which is trying to escape, also in some cases positive pressure is formed, literally forcing heated air outside.  With Radiant floor heating, often lower thermostat settings are needed for optimum comfort. Radiant can have multiple zones and thermostats. With super efficient heating appliances available, hydronic heating is adaptable to any energy source.

Far less invasive in your home, radiant is quiet, with no annoying cycling fan noise. Radiant is mostly hidden with no invasive vents affecting furniture placement, or ductwork which often requires a lower ceiling height.

It is simply the best way to heat your home.
